It doesn't suck to be a member of the Hewing Hotel's "Social Club."

People shell out nearly $2,000 a year for a limited number of private memberships to the luxury downtown Minneapolis hotel. In return, they get plenty of lavish perks, including access to the rooftop pool, hot tub and sauna year-round, as well as invitations to exclusive members-only events.

One of those events is coming up. This December, country singer Brandon Lay will play a pop-up country concert on the hotel's rooftop. Only members are invited.

But for those who can't swing for the membership, there's still a way to hear the musician Rolling Stone named among the top 10 new country artists you need to know

After Lay finishes his set on the rooftop, he'll make his way downstairs for a free public pop-up show in the hotel lobby. It'll start around 9 p.m. on Dec. 1.

It's the perfect opportunity to check out the swanky hotel, which typically costs around $250 or more for a room per night – and recently welcomed Ellen's wife Portia de Rossi as a guest.

Only a year after its opening, the Hewing has become a prime hangout for locals and travelers alike.
