Peggy Walker must believe in the luck of the draw. Out of 40 million entries in an HGTV contest, the River Falls woman won a car and a home, with a combined value of $900,000.

The Pioneer Press reports Walker was out with friends at a St. Paul restaurant on Tuesday night when she learned that she was the big winner in the first HGTV Smart Home Giveaway. Her prizes include a fully furnished home in Jacksonville Beach, Fla., and a 2013 GMC Terrain Denali.

Walker said she had entered the home giveaway contest for years before her (house) number came up.

You can watch Walker's reaction when the "HGTV Smart Home 2013 Giveaway Special" airs Aug. 16.

Walker lives on a dairy farm with her husband, Paul. She is retired from the South Washington County School District, where she worked as a special-education teacher.
