In the '90s she was known as Grandma Yetta on "The Nanny." Three decades earlier she was known as Rob & Laura's neighbor, Millie, on "The Dick Van Dyke Show." And more than 30 years before that Ann Morgan Guilbert was born in Minneapolis.
The comedic actress died of cancer at age 87 this week, her daughter told the New York Times.
The newspaper says Guilbert left her hometown to study speech and drama at Stanford University. While performing on Broadway in 1959 she made on impression on writer/producer Carl Reiner, which he remembered when he assembled the cast of "The Dick Van Dyke Show."
TVLine notes that in recent years Guilbert had a recurring role on HBO's "Getting On." She was also on CBS' "Life in Pieces," and the Times says those at the Sundance Film Festival in 2010 would have seen her in "Please Give."
