Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings have dropped out of their scheduled July 13 gig at the Basilica Block Party in Minneapolis following Jones' diagnosis with bile-duct cancer, the Pioneer Press reports.
Organizers say they will announce a replacement for the group in the coming weeks.
Jones, 57, says she was diagnosed with first-stage cancer and it has not spread. It will, however, require surgery and recovery time, so the group has scrapped all of its concert dates this year.
"Luckily we caught it really early and fast and the doctors say it’s operable and curable," Jones said in a statement on her website. "I will be having surgery very soon and will have to rest and recover. I’ll be staying in touch and keeping my fans and friends updated on my progress. I’m looking forward to getting back on the road to give the people what they want."
The Basilica Block Party will be headlined by Grace Potter and Matt Nathanson on July 12, and Matchbox Twenty, the Goo Goo Dolls and the replacement for Jones and the Dap-Kings on July 13.
