With all the forecast wobbling we've seen lately, it's hard to get too excited about seeing 50 degrees by the middle of next week because this spring's (yes, it is spring) weather has been relentlessly unstable.
Alas, the National Weather Service, which just a couple of days ago was saying our cold spell could last deep into next week and beyond, is now calling for highs of 50+ degrees along and south of Interstate 94 on Wednesday and Thursday.
The Weather Channel is also on board with the warmup, giving Minneapolis forecast highs of 52 on Wednesday and 56 Thursday, followed by 42 with thunderstorms on Friday before cooling back into the 30s next weekend.
First, though, we have to get through today's snowstorm, which has weakened considerably and is no longer expected to produce more than 4 inches of snow in most areas, and only up to a couple of inches in the metro area.
Doing the same thing repeatedly while expecting a different result is the definition of insanity, so maybe we're insane for believing that it's going to warm up this week, but we'll have to wait and find out.
