Stars, author of 'Mortal Instruments' to do fan event at MOA

Three stars of the upcoming supernatural thriller "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones," as well as the author of the bestselling book series are coming to the Mall of America Sunday for a fan event celebrating the release of the film.

Studio Screen Gems says stars Lily Collins ("Mirror Mirror"), Jamie Campbell Bower ("Twilight") and Kevin Zegers ("Gossip Girl") will be at the event along with author Cassandra Clare in the Mall Rotunda from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. They'll be previewing clips for the film, taking questions from fans and signing autographs.

"The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" tells the story of Clary Fray (Lily Collins), a seemingly ordinary teenager who discovers that she's the descendant of a line of young-half angel warriors known as the Shadowhunters -- a group locked in an ancient battle to protect the world from demons.

After the disappearance of her mother (Lena Heady), Clary has no choice to join the Shadowhunters, who introduce her to the dangerous alternate New York known as Downworld which is filled with demons, warlocks, vampire, werewolves and other deadly creatures.

The film opens in theaters Aug. 21.
