The last time Washington state stole something so blatantly from Minnesota, they had Blair Walsh to thank.
The street sign for "Uff Da Hill Road" was found on Orcas Island, in Washington state, and shared on the Minnesota SubReddit this week in a post titled "Washington is trying to out-Minnesota us."
You can find it on the map here.
How dare Washington state try to steal Minnesota terms that we in turn appropriated from Scandinavia.
To be fair, some 150,000 Scandinavians settled in the Pacific Northwest between 1890 and 1910, according to Museum of the City, and there's even a statue of Leif Erikson in Ballard, Washington.
And not everyone is that bothered by the appearance of a very Minnesotan exclamation on a Washington street sign.
"They can have uff da if they agree to take back their burnt ass Starbucks," one Redditor suggested. "This is caribou country."
