'That's my kind of night': Luke Bryan brings the party to Minneapolis


Luke Bryan knows how to throw party – and he and 43,000 fans proved it Saturday night.

"He shook up a can of beer and shook his derrière — and he had the crowd at first wiggle," John Bream wrote in Star Tribune's review of the concert. He also used a piano to line up shots for some of his opening acts, the Pioneer Press says.

It was a party at TCF Bank Stadium as Bryan became the first country musician to perform at the University of Minnesota's football stadium.

Bryan "showed his flair for showmanship," the Star Tribune says, as he stood on top of a pickup truck that was surrounded by real flames for the encore of "That's My Kind of Night" and used a fake pier for his balled "Drink a Beer" – a song about lost loved ones.

And of course, there were fireworks:

The king of "bro country" (when artists sing about trucks, women and getting drunk) was accompanied by four opening acts – including Florida Georgia Line – which transformed his concert into a "mini-festival marathon," the Pioneer Press says.

"After donning shades to finish their set, the two main Florida Georgia Line dudes stripped off their shirts and showered beer on the crowd. And, really, that says everything you need to know about bro-country right there," pop music critic Ross Raihala wrote in the Pioneer Press.
