This can't have been the easiest pitch: a concert on an outdoor stage in Minneapolis, during what is generally one of the coldest stretches of the year.

Yet Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis helped secure 19 musical acts to do just that, getting them to sign on for the 10-day Super Bowl Live festivities on Nicollet Mall ahead of the Feb. 4 game. Organizers announced the lineup Friday morning, and all of the shows are free.

The run of shows will kick off Jan. 26 with Idina Menzel performing "Let it Go" – so it'll mean a short time on stage for the Tony Award winner. All of the concerts are taking place at the (inelegantly named) "Verizon Up Stage at Ice Mountain" at Nicollet and 8th Street.

Things really gear up on Monday, Jan. 29, when The Revolution, Sheila E., and Morris Day and the Time take the stage for what's been dubbed "Prince Night." That evening will end with a sing-along to "Purple Rain."

The schedule beyond that isn't out yet, but there will be daily performances over the 10-day stretch. Here's a look at the very-Minnesotan musical lineup:

  • Dessa
  • Bob Mould
  • Cobi
  • Esera Tuaolo
  • The Jayhawks
  • The Jets
  • Mint Condition and Stokley
  • New Power Generation (NPG)
  • New Power Soul
  • Soul Asylum
  • Sounds of Blackness
  • The Steeles
  • Stokley Williams
  • The Suburbs
  • VocalEssence

Organizers called these the "first" 19 acts – so expect more names in the future.

We asked the Minnesota Super Bowl communications director on Twitter how they planned to keep the musical acts warm.

A little bit of Minnesota-bred winter gusto won't hurt either.
