Not too long ago, Minnesota was not even on the radar of wine connoisseurs. But that's changing. And now even the restaurant at one of the state's vineyards is getting recognition.
Four Daughters Vineyard & Winery in southeastern Minnesota has a restaurant that's been nominated as one of the country's best winery dining spots.
A panel of experts pulled together by USA Today picked the 20 nominees, and now readers are voting for their favorites at 10Best.com.
10Best says the idea is to identify places that not only have top-notch wine, but also let diners sit down and pair those wines with excellent local cuisine.
What do they serve at Four Daughters?
Four Daughters is all the way down near the Iowa state line in Fillmore County, with Spring Valley being the closest town.
As their nomination on the 10Best site notes, the restaurant's menu has a big selection of small plates. They range from cheese plates to crab rangoon flatbread.
The vineyard is where they make not only Four Daughters wine, but also Loon Juice hard cider and Snowflake wine.
Voting at USA Today's 10Best site continues through August 14.
