The next American Idol? Two Minnesotans advance to the top 24

There is a 1/12 chance the next "American Idol" is one of Minnesota's own.

Both Mark Andrew (from Eden Prairie) and Shannon Berthiaume (South St. Paul) made it through another round of judging on the FOX show this week – earning a spot in the top 24 of the competition.

That means they'll perform during the first live shows that are set to start next week.

Berthiaume had the slightly less stressful week: She performed Wednesday, singing "Take Another Piece of My Heart," and was among the first 12 to make it to the top 24 round. Andrew had to battle for a final spot on Thursday, and went with "Take Me To Church." It was good enough to secure his spot as ell.

Judge Jennifer Lopez even weighed in on Twitter.

Here are a few clips: a snippet of each Minnesota contestant's most recent performance, plus a short interview they did with the judges about making the top 24.
