The rest of North America gets to see Slayer after Bemidji does

The metal band's tour of the continent starts in northern Minnesota in July.

The "first city on the Mississippi" is also the first city on "the biggest metal tour of the summer."

Slayer will launch its North American tour in Bemidji, Minnesota, on July 12, the Grammy-winning metal band announced Tuesday.

Slayer is joined on its "Repentless" tour by two other bands: Lamb of God and Behemoth.

As the tour schedule shows, they're spending May in Central and South America and June in Europe before playing the U.S.

Yes we're only now turning the calendar to March, but Metal Injection says this is likely to be the biggest metal tour of the summer.

Tickets officially go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, although Metal Injection says there will be a Thursday presale (using the password "loud").

It's been more than a year now since Slayer's "Repentless" album was released, though it's now also a comic book.

Lamb of God is also touring in support of a 2015 release, "VII: Sturm und Drang." Singer Randy Blythe jokingly said "This tour is going to be the feel-good event of the summer," Rolling Stone reports.

As the Bemidji Pioneer notes, Slayer has sold more than 5 million albums in the U.S. and is a two-time Grammy winner in the Best Metal Performance category.
