Twin Cities music legends The Suburbs have a new album coming before summer's end, the Pioneer Press reports.
The Suburbs front man Chan Poling told Pioneer Press music critic Ross Raihala that if all goes well, the band's first album since 1986 will be released Aug. 27.
The album will be self-released, Poling says, noting, "I'm a 55-year-old rocker. I'm old enough now to know how to do it."
Fans who don't want to wait that long to hear the The Suburbs' new tunes can hear some new tracks at the band's Saturday night gig at the Cabooze in Minneapolis, Poling said.
Poling was instrumental in recent passage of the same-sex marriage bill in Minnesota -- offering the band's classic song "Love Is the Law" as an anthem for the movement -- but he's modest about his contributions and has a "Minnesota reticence to take any credit for it."
