The Walker Art Center in Minneapolis is having a film fest with old school silent movies. And to make things interesting, the short films will be accompanied by scores from local indie musicians.
Sound for Silence, as the event is called, will feature live accompaniments by Marijuana Deathsquads, Hippo Campus' Jake Luppen, The Pines' Benson Ramsey and plenty of others. Bon Iver's Justin Vernon isn't quite as local (he's from Wisconsin) but he'll be there playing too.
See the full list of musicians here.
According to the Facebook event, they'll be playing live cinematic scores for 1920s experimental short films. There will be shorts by Hans Richter, Viking Eggeling, and Rene Clair.
This free outdoor event will be Aug. 17 on the Walker’s new Wurtele Upper Garden at 8:30 p.m. It's expected to go until 10 p.m.
