The world's first 'robot citizen' is coming to Minnesota

Sophia will pay a visit to White Bear Lake later this month.

Sophia, the advanced humanoid who's the first robot to be declared a "citizen," will pay a visit to Minnesota later this month.

The creation of Hong Kong-based Hanson Robotics, Sophia will speak before a conference at Century College on Feb. 27, in collaboration with the White Bear Lake Chamber of Commerce.

This past October, she became the world's first "robot citizen" when Saudi Arabia granted her citizenship.

She also became the first non-human to win a United Nations title when she was named the UN Development Programme's first ever Innovation Champion.

She has made media and conference appearances around the world, demonstrating the myriad possible uses of robots in the future.

At Century College, she will talk about how she and other robotic prototypes can transform the healthcare industry – and she will take questions from the audience.

The event costs $35 to attend for White Bear Lake Chamber members and $45 for non-members. You can find ticket information and times here.
