Parking at the State Fair can be kind of a nightmare – even if some of our readers have great tips and suggestions.

So we expect some of you will want to Uber or Lyft over to St.Paul. Which is an especially good idea if the new, exclusiveState Fair beers will be heavily involved in your trip.

But you can't just roll up to the gates wherever you want.

Where to get picked up/dropped off

The State Fair has two specific locations for Ubers and Lyfts to drop off or pick up riders.

One is at the very northeast tip of the fairgrounds at Snelling and Hoyt avenues (that's near the campground and Pet Center, Gate 2).

The other is along the northwest edge, where Buford hits Randall Avenue. There's a bike lot and transit hub right there. (Use Gate 16.)

Here's the full color map for reference:

Cars can't fiddle-fart around waiting for passengers – they've only got a couple minutes to stay there, so make sure you're communicating with your driver

You can save a few bucks

Both Uber and Lyft are offering some discounts.

Uber will give you $15 off your first ride when you sign up here and use the code MNSTATEFAIR. It's for new users only, but doesn't expire until Sept. 18.

Lyft meanwhile is offering 30 percent off two rides (up to $5 savings for each) when you sign up here and use the code MNSTATEFAIR. Once again, it's only for new users. You've got until Aug. 7 to take advantage.

What about a taxi?

A taxi is also an option.

Taxis have a different pick-up and drop-off spot however – it's on the south end of the fairgrounds at Gate 9, next to the iconic pedestrian bridge.

You can use the iHail app to book a ride, or call 612-888-8888.

Uber will bring you (limited) State Fair food

Uber is offering another service.

You'll be able to order Dino’s Gyros and Que Viet fair foods through the UberEATS app – here it is for iPhone or Android. You'll pay the cost of the food plus a service fee, and any taxes.

Dino's will be offering its original gyro, spicy gyro, chicken gyro, falafel sandwich and french fries.

Que Viet options include egg rolls.
