St. Paul was turned green as thousands of revelers descended on downtown to mark St. Patrick's Day.

The 52nd annual parade sponsored by the Saint Patrick's Association got underway at noon, making its way along 5th Street before ending up at Rice Park.

It's the pinnacle of Minnesota's St. Patrick's Day celebrations, with St. Paul a sea of green as the parade made its way along the short route in glorious sunshine.

Minneapolis follows it up with its own parade on Saturday evening.
