Trampled by Turtles decide it's time for a break

The band has been together for 13 years now.

Trampled by Turtles has been around for a while – 13 years now, after forming in Duluth in 2003.

So it's time for a break.

The bluegrass-folk quintet posted this to Twitter earlier this week:

And changed their profile photos on Twitter and Facebook to that static TV screen thing.

The band didn't offer much of an explanation beyond that first tweet initially. It came just a day after a show in Hinckley. But since then, a couple reports have come out confirming the band isn't done – just on hiatus.

The band's most recent album is 2014's Wild Animals, which was met with generally solid reviews.

TBT will be focusing on "some other projects, family time, etc." according to a statement from their management company provided by FOX 21. And as CityPages pointed out, the clues were actually there ahead of time, with Saving Country Music noticing an early announcement in a press release.

That release was about Dead Man Winter – the solo project of frontman Dave Simonett. Dead Man Winter has an album titled Furnace coming out in January.

So for the time being, if you're a TBT fan, know you probably won't see new music or tour dates from them for a bit. But the band's website does have a list of tours for different projects from the members: Simonett has some solo shows starting in November, while he and Dave Carroll (who plays banjo and helps on vocals in TBT) will go on the road together in December.

Fans are in general supportive – but hoping Trampled by Turtles isn't gone for too long.
