An artist based in Australia recently painted a large mural in Sydney as a tribute to Prince – and is now asking for donations to fund a trip to Minneapolis to recreate the piece here.

The mural by Graham Hoete – who goes by "Mr. G" – in Sydney is about 23 feet wide and 16 feet high, and took him about 5 and half hours to complete, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Devastated Australian Prince fans have found solace in the mural and left a number of flowers and handwritten notes in front, reported Techly. Check out this time lapse of Hoete painting the mural:

He envisions the Minneapolis mural as five stories high and even more "epic" than his mural in Sydney, said ABC.

According to Hoete's Facebook page, he has already talked to someone who is connected to Minneapolis Mayor Besty Hodges about the second Prince mural.

A local artist painted a tribute mural shortly after his death – The Current says it's located on the side of a building at 26th Street and Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis' Uptown neighborhood, and was done by Rock “Cyfi” Martinez. Here's a shot of it:

More artistic Prince tributes

Over a year ago, Rhode Island artist Rebekah Major started a project called 365 Days of Prince in which she illustrates Prince doing something different daily.

"Everyday Prince has a new adventure… dressing for halloween, popping out of cakes, water skiing, filling in as a naked sushi model and much more," Major said in her Facebook album. You can view all 365 Prince illustrations on her website here.
