Some people's lunch breaks got a little cuter Wednesday, thanks to the Jackson 5.

And no, we aren't talking about the musical group. That's what handlers call the litter of Goldendoodles that starred in Meet Minneapolis' puppy cuddle fundraiser.

Meet Minneapolis – an organization that works to promote the city – held the event to raise money for United Way charity and Secondhand Hounds animal rescue.

Three puppies named Janet, Marlon and Jermaine spent the afternoon basking in sun and attention. (Michael and Tito couldn't make it.)

A $5 donation got each person three minutes of doggy cuddling. And people lined up for the privilege.

Michelle Jensen, a Secondhand Hounds volunteer, told BringMeTheNews the Jackson 5 litter was rescued from a puppy mill. Some of the dogs that came out of that rescue had never been outside to play in grass.

Jensen says the animal rescue has about 400 dogs and 200 cats under its care.

Matt Laible, Meet Minneapolis' director of communications, told BringMeTheNews this is the third year they've held a puppy cuddle event.

Laible says it's usually pretty popular. But this year, they set up outside the Minneapolis Convention Center and had the biggest turnout ever – 115 people. He says at least $600 dollars was raised – possibly more because some people donate beyond the minimum.

Half of that money will go to United Way. The other half will go to Secondhand Hounds.
