The life of Zelda Fitzgerald, the wife of Minnesota literature legend F. Scott Fitzgerald, is being immortalized on the small screen by Amazon – and the first trailer dropped on Wednesday.
Starring Christina Ricci, Z: The Beginning of Everything charts Zelda and F. Scott's life during the Jazz Age of the roaring '20s.
The Alabama native turned socialite and novelist was dubbed by her husband the "first American flapper," described by PBS as a "freethinking woman with the world at her disposal."
Their turbulent marriage was wracked with drinking, mutual infidelity and jealousy, according to MentalFloss.
She spent some of her later years in a sanatorium having been diagnosed with schizophrenia, though more recent studies of the circumstances around her condition suggest that she is more likely to have been bipolar, NPR notes.
The first season appears to focus on their meeting and move to New York City, where they became celebrities in 1920. So it remains to be seen if the focus will shift to Fitzgeralds' family home in St. Paul, where the pair moved in 1921 to have their first child.
The show will be available to stream for Prime members starting Jan. 27.
