Watch: Coldplay and James Corden pay tribute to Prince

Coldplay is one of those love 'em or hate 'em bands – and in Minnesota, Prince is strictly love 'em, which could make this video difficult for some of you.

At their sell-out show at the famous Rose Bowl in Los Angeles, lead singer Chris Martin invited his fellow Brit, "The Late, Late Show" host James Corden, onto the stage to mark the TV host's birthday.

Corden joined Coldplay in a tribute to Minnesota's own Prince, as they belted out "Nothing Compares 2 U," the 1990 hit the Purple One wrote for Sinead O'Connor.

Corden has shown during his "Carpool Karaoke" skits that he can carry a tune, and actually pulled off the song better than Martin did when he took the second verse.

Make up your own mind by watching the video above – but the reaction online was mixed.
