WCCO-TV makes major changes with morning, noon anchor lineup

WCCO-TV is shuffling up its morning and noon news lineup by replacing its current set of anchors, the Star Tribune reports.

Jason DeRusha and Jamie Yuccas are taking over the anchor slots currently held by Mike Binkley and Angela Davis.

Binkley and Davis have co-hosted the morning and noon news shows on WCCO for the past five years. They will now co-anchor the Sunday night news editions and fill in for other anchors at the station.

According to the Star Tribune, the station's 6 a.m. broadcast is third in the ratings among viewers in the 25-54 demographic -- the only time of the day the station is not in first or second place in that demo.

News director Mike Caputa said the move wasn't about performance, but instead about being in "a position to grow. "

"Expectations are high here to do better in the morning," he said.

Reporter Heather Brown will take over DeRusha's "Good Question" segment.

The changes are expected to take effect June 2.
