Cam Newton is known to be one of football's true good guys – and once again he's hit the headlines for being so thoroughly decent.

The Carolina Panthers' quarterback made a surprise appearance at a block party for 10-year-old Elijah Hughes, who was holding a Halloween party a month early as doctor's are not sure if he will make it to Oct. 31 as he battles a rare form of cancer.

As if his appearance wasn't enough, Newton brought with him a whole ice cream truck, as well as brownies.

The Black and Blue Review reports that Elijah is a big fan of Auburn, Newton's alma mater, which prompted the 26-year-old star to pay a visit to Concord, North Carolina.

'As a mom it absolutely melts your heart," Elijah's mom Becky Hughes said. "It brings tears to my eyes."
