Web Catch: Fallen officer's colleagues surprise daughter on her wedding day

On the day of Kirsten Mundell's wedding, a lone chair sat unoccupied in the front row.

The seat was reserved for Mundell's father, a sheriff's deputy in Pierce County, Washington, who was killed in the line of duty in 2009.

The chair was adorned with a framed photo of Officer Kent Mundell, along with his jacket and a special sign.

"It's hard realizing it's been almost six years and he's not going to be there and that chair," Kirsten Mundell told KOMO News. "It meant a lot knowing that we were able to save a spot for him and knowing that I felt him there I knew he was there."

She and the groom paid tribute to her father's memory in a number of ways throughout the day; however, it was during the father-daughter dance that a surprising and truly unforgettable moment came.

Seattle Police Det. Don Jones – who walked Mundell down the aisle – stood in for his former colleague during the dance, and several of the fallen deputy's other friends and fellow officers followed suit, filing in behind Jones one by one.

"There wasn't a dry eye in the room. I mean, the photographer was crying at that point. Everybody was crying, it was very moving," Jones said.
