The Shedd Aquarium in Chicago recently welcomed a rockhopper penguin chick to its family.
Hatched on June 9, it will be another year before veterinary staff can determine the sex of the penguin. In the meantime, the bouncing baby bird will be known simply as #23.
The International Union for the Conservation of Nature lists rockhopper penguins as "vulnerable," meaning they're at-risk for endangerment. The aquarium notes that #23 is one of 30 rockhopper penguins currently at Shedd and is part of a restoration program.
