Web Catch: Norm Macdonald says Eddie Murphy turned down a bit in SNL40

A lot of people watched the Saturday Night Live 40th anniversary special on Sunday night.

Beforehand, there was a lot of talk about how Eddie Murphy was finally returning to Studio 8H. But his involvement in the SNL40 show was minimal – a quick, candid comment about coming back.

So, everyone wanted to know: Why didn't Eddie do more?

Well, former cast member Norm Macdonald used Twitter Wednesday night to detail how he and co-writer Steve Higgins wanted to use Murphy on Celebrity Jeopardy – by having him do a Bill Cosby impression.

Here's a sampling of Macdonald's story, but click here for the full thing. (Also, scroll past the tweets to see how the Celebrity Jeopardy skit actually turned out.)

Also interesting – they used that Bill Cosby joke, but current cast member Kenan Thompson did the impression, not Murphy. Watch the clip here.
