Areas of central, southwestern and south-central Minnesota are under a Winter Storm Watch for Sunday morning through Monday morning and 6+ inches of snow is possible.
From the National Weather Service:
"A winter storm watch has been issued for Sunday and Sunday night across southwest Minnesota. Snow will move in from the Dakotas on Sunday, with over 6 inches possible along the Upper Minnesota River Valley by the time the snow ends late Sunday night. The heaviest snow is expected Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening."
The forecast discussion from the NWS Twin Cities suggests that the storm will weaken as it moves across Minnesota from west to east on Sunday, meaning the metro area could be spared from some significant accumulations.
Based on the NWS's map, the most of the metro is only in line for 1-3 inches of snow.
Check back for updates on Saturday and again Sunday morning.
