You won't be able to buy booze on Sundays in these MN cities

Sunday sales is legal July 1 – but some cities are opting out.

It becomes legal for liquor stores to sell alcohol on Sundays on July 1, but some cities are opting out.

A provision added to the Sunday sales law during the special session lets cities decide if they want to restrict what days liquor can be sold, according to the League of Minnesota Cities. This means they can keep ordinances they already have in place that ban Sunday sales, MPR News explains.

Here's a running list of cities where you won't be allowed to buy booze on Sundays. (Note: We'll update this list as more cities make the decision.)

No Sunday sales

Bemidji: The city-owned liquor stores won't be opening on Sunday. You can read more about that here.

Ely: The city council decided not to change its ordinance that bans Sunday sales. Read more about it in this MPR News story.
