An estimated 150,000 people flocked to St. Paul Saturday night for the Red Bull Crashed Ice World Championships, WCCO-TV reports.

The fastest 32 athletes from around the world raced in the finals, which was won by defending champion Kyle Croxall, of Canada.

The winner's circle included a Minnesotan: Cam Naasz, of Lakeville, placed third in the four-man final heat, the Pioneer Press reports.

Naasz, 23, is the top-ranked American in the sport.

The event is expected to give a huge financial boost to St. Paul. Last year, the crowd left behind an estimated $20 million in economic impact for the city.

Pat Boemer, owner of McGovern's Pub in downtown St. Paul, said he doubled his typical weekend revenue during last year's weekend tournament.

In addition to Crashed Ice, the Winter Carnival is in full swing. City officials estimated that the two events combined will draw 130,000 visitors.
