A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for parts of central and southern Minnesota and storms have already reached severe levels along two lines of developing storms.
There's a line of storms moving south to north across west-central Minnesota, and as of 1:45 p.m. it was located along a line from the Iowa border up through Worthington to the west of Willmar and further north towards Alexandria and Wadena.
A portion of the line near Redwood Falls was capable of producing 60 mph winds and quarter-sized hail.
Another line of storms, moving from the south to the north-northwest, was located just to the west of Rochester and working its way up into the Twin Cities.
Half-dollar-sized hail has already been reported near Rock Dell, which is just to the southwest of Rochester.
The storms are expected to continue developing this afternoon and evening before diminishing as the sun goes down.
