7 Minnesota breweries win medals at U.S. Open Beer Championships
Seven breweries from Minnesota came away with 12 medals at this year's U.S. Open Beer Championships.
More than 7,000 beers from across the world were sent in and blind-tested by judges from the U.S., England and Canada in Oxford, Ohio, with the winners unveiled earlier this week.
The biggest winner in Minnesota was Willmar's Foxhole Brewhouse, which took home two gold medals for The Hunted, in the English Barley Wine Ale category, and for 4th St. Wheat in the American Wheat (light and dark) category.
A triple winner meanwhile was Stillwater's Lift Bridge Brewing, two of which weren't for its alcoholic beverages.
The brewery took home a bronze medal in the Soft Drinks category for its Mini Donut Cream Soda, and a silver medal for its Root Beer in the Root Beer category.
It also won silver for its Barrel Aged Silhouette in the Barrel-Aged Strong Stout/Porter category.
Also winning gold was Waconia Brewing for its Cookies and Cream Milk Stout in the Specialty Beer/Anything Goes category, while other winners included Able Seedhouse and Brewery from Minneapolis, Lakeville Brewing, August Schell and Spilled Grain Brewhouse of Annandale.
