Aerosmith, Pitbull announced for first Twin Cities Summer Jam

Rascal Flatts, Pitbull and REO Speedwagon have also been announced.

The first round of artists for the inaugural Twin Cities Summer Jam have been announced, with Aerosmith the headline name.

The three-day rock, pop and country music festival is being held at Shakopee's Canterbury Park, and is the brainchild of Minnesota entrepreneur Jerry Braam, KFAN radio host/musician Chris Hawkey, and his business partner Sarah Jane.

Country megastar Tim McGraw had already been announced for the festival, with several more acts confirmed on Thursday morning.

Chief among them are rock legends Aerosmith, renowned for hits like "Dream On," "Walk This Way," and "Sweet Emotions."

Others announced are pop/rap artist Pitbull, country music trio Rascal Flatts, stadium rockers REO Speedwagon, and hip-hop's Hobo Johnson and the LoveMakers.

And Chris Hawkey will also be playing at the festival he's helping to organize.

More artists will be announced in due course for the festival, which will be held between July 18-20 at Canterbury Park.

It will see a giant concert bowl created at one end of the racetrack, while outside there will be 10,000 free parking spaces and an RV campground.

Tickets go on sale for the festival on March 1, though you can get your tickets a day earlier by registering.

Prices won't be announced until the day tickets go on sale. You can find more information here.
