Ahead of State Fair appearance, Weird Al gets a MN road named after him

It's right next to the World's Largest Ball of Twine.

"Weird" Al Yankovic has finally made it as a Minnesota treasure, with his name immortalized – fittingly as a pun – in the form of an alleyway in Darwin.

The alley next to the World's Largest Ball of Twine, which in case you didn't know, Weird Al once wrote a song about (see below), is now known as "Weird Alley" in honor of the legendary parody song artist.

Weird Al will be playing the Minnesota State Fair Grandstand on Tuesday evening, and has given the alleyway accolade the due amount of reverence.

"Sure, the Grammys and platinum albums are nice and all, but now I know I’ve finally made it: they just re-named the alley next to the Darwin, MN Twine Ball," Weird Al tweeted on Monday.

Formerly known as Twine Ball Lane, the alley was renamed for "for all he has done to promote the Twine Ball and Darwin," the Twine Ball "said" on social media.

"Thanks for everything, Al! This here’s what America’s all about."
