Alice Cooper to 'Raise the Dead' in Minneapolis

Legendary shock rocker Alice Cooper is bringing his "Raise the Dead Tour" to the Twin Cities.

The Hennepin Theatre Trust says Cooper will play the State Theater July 14.

Cooper, 65, whose rock career spans over five decades, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011.

Cooper told Tom Barnard during an interview with the KQRS Morning Show Wednesday that the show is called the "Raise the Dead Tour" because of drinking club he used to be in years ago called the "Hollywood Vampires," which included some famous fellow rockers.

"It was Keith Moon and John Lennon, (Jim) Morrison, (Jimi) Hendrix and all those guys, and they're all dead," Cooper explained. "So we pay a tribute to those guys, now, on stage. Very rarely do I do a cover song, but we do four covers in tribute to four of the dead Vampires."

Tickets for the show go on sale Friday.
