Bob Dylan's massive catalogue of songs will be the basis of a new TV series called "Time Out of Mind".

Amazon and Lions Gate Entertainment have partnered to develop the hourlong drama series, Variety reported.

Details of the project are still limited. The idea is to have characters and themes from Dylan's music collide in some way, Variety said.

The show will be set partly in the 1960s and 1970s in New York, where the Hibbing native Dylan got his start, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The series will be written and directed by Josh Wakely, an Australian filmmaker who has been granted rights to use any of the singer's 600-plus songs, according to Rolling Stone.

"Time Out of Mind" is the title of Dylan's 1997 hit album.

Dylan will not be a producer or involved creatively beyond the songs he has written, the Wall Street Journal said.

Bob Dylan will be on tour this summer to promote his new album, "Fallen Angels," which comes out May 20.
