It was the end of Mark Andrew's run on "American Idol" Wednesday night. The Minneapolis singer was attempting to make it into the top 12 on the FOX reality singing program.

The 16 finalists flew to Los Angeles and taped the show Tuesday on the American Idol soundstage in front of the judges, according to US Weekly, and the program aired Wednesday night.

Andrew, 29, sang "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" on last week's show, but he didn't get enough votes to put him in the top 10, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

The judges had two "saves" they could use to round out the top 12, and they chose two other contestants instead of Andrew.

Here's Andrew's performance from last week.

Andrew was one of hundreds of Minnesotans who tried out for the American Idol judges in Minneapolis last fall, and one of five from the state who were chosen to move on to the Hollywood round.

Andrew has performed in the Twin Cities area for several years. He was a contestant on NBC's "The Voice" in season 4, but was knocked out in the second round.

Another local, 17-year-old Shannon Berthiaume of South St. Paul, made it to the top 24 before being eliminated last week.
