Another restaurant fails on Hennepin Avenue corner

Prime 6 has suddenly closed, having only opened in February.
Publish date:

The corner of Hennepin Avenue and 6th Street South in downtown Minneapolis is rapidly becoming a graveyard for restaurants.

The latest victim is Prime 6, which only opened its doors this past February but closed earlier this week with little fanfare, removing its Facebook page and updating its status with Yelp.

It only opened in February in the corner unit of the City Center building that had been vacated by Rosa Mexicano in 2016.

Rosa Mexicano, in turn, had lasted five years in what was formerly home to TGI Fridays. Before that, Italianni's, Chi-Chi's and Ol' Mexico resided at the location.

In a statement on Prime 6's Facebook page posted before the account was shut down, the Business Journals reports that executive chef Youssef Darbaki said they had tried to renegotiate the lease with the building's management, but couldn't come to an agreement.
