Back To School 2018: A look at some of the best shopping deals

The summer's almost over, students.

We're already a week into August, meaning the start of the new school year is drawing inexorably closer.

With that in mind, attention is turning to ensuring students and teachers are prepared for the next semester, with retailers across the country releasing their own back-to-school sales.

BMTN has taken a look through some of what's out there and picked out some big bargains.

Office Depot

The stationery and office supplies retailer is offering discounts of up to 80 percent on back-to-school goods that includes a box of 24 Crayola crayons for just 50 cents, and folders from as little as 15 cents.

The online giant has a page full of coupons on back-to-school and off-to-college supplies, which includes discounts of up to 20 percent on items including stationery, backpacks, organizers and ink cartridges. You can find them here.

As well as deals on some backpacks (less than $20), school uniform separates (less than $10) and other apparel, Kohl's is also currently offering a coupon on back-to-school sales giving you $10 off when you spend more than $50.

The Minneapolis retailer has a bevy of back-to-school deals, including a limited time off on school uniforms that gives you 20 percent off until Friday, Aug. 11, using the online code UNIFORMS.

Elsewhere it has 20 percent off backpacks, school supplies for less than a dollar, and up to 15 percent off college essentials including bedding, desk lamps, storage, and shower totes.

Seeking to out-do its competitor, U.S. News reports that Walmart is offering school supplies from as low as 50 cents and backpacks costing as little as $10.

It also has bed-in-a-bag deals for college students for $30, which includes a comforter, pillowcases and sheets.

Bed, Bath and Beyond

Not your typical back-to-school store, sure, but there are deals for college students that everyone can take advantage of.

Currently it has a number of bedding sets on clearance, and it also gives you a 20 percent discount if you sign up for its college savings pass using a .edu email address.

The Container Store

It's running a sale until this Saturday, Aug. 12, that includes discounts on in-closet, under the bed and decorative storage perfect for college dorm rooms.

And you get 20 percent off until Aug. 20 when you text Classof2018 to 22922.

Best Buy

The electronics chain is offering deals on laptops, tablets and software for college students.

You need to sign up to its college deals service to get the discounts, which include $150 off MacBooks, $50 off the iPad Pro, $100-$150 off Windows laptops, and $30 off Microsoft Office subscriptions.
