Bakery home to 'Minnesota's best donuts' is up for sale
There is the opportunity to buy one of Minnesota's best-known donut shops, with the Lindstrom Bakery having been put up for sale.
The bakery in the downtown of the Swedish enclave that is Lindstrom is on the market for $485,000, with the listing here courtesy of J.H. Callahan & Associates.
Its sale, first reported by Axios, will bring down the curtain on Bernie Coulombe's 48 years of ownership, during which time she has established her bakery as one of the very best the state has to offer.
Earlier this year, Food & Wine Magazine identified Lindstrom Bakery as having the best donuts in Minnesota, with Coulombe praised for her cake donuts that are "crispy-crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside."
Such is the popularity of the bakery, it operates on a first-come, first-served basis, and once all their baked confections are all sold, that's it for the day.
Per the listing, Coulombe will stay on for 30 days to provide "seller training" to the new buyer, but as she explained to the Star Tribune, most of the prospective buyers so far don't know how to bake, and it'll be impossible to pass on all of her recipes, methods, and wisdom in the space of just 30 days.
The listing notes that the bakery "is primed for the next level," saying that "excellent branding and name recognition open opportunities for franchising the name and product."
