Bar Louie is no more in Uptown.
The bar closed abruptly on Tuesday, the first rumblings about which started to appear on social media that afternoon as staff members revealed they'd just been told the news.
The Twin Cities Eater then spoke to someone still at the bar on Tuesday who confirmed the news.
Bar Louie, the party spot known for its large patio at 1348 Lagoon, has occupied its prominent Uptown location in the MoZaic building since 2012.
The bar is part of a national chain of the same name, with another location opening up at the Ridgedale Mall in Minnetonka, in the space of a former Applebee's, in 2013.
That bar closed down last month.
In statement to BMTN, Bar Louie said: "Unfortunately, our franchised Bar Louie Uptown and Bar Louie Ridgedale locations were not thriving at their Minneapolis and Minnetonka locations, and the franchisee has chosen to close them as of April 4, 2018 (Minnetonka) and May 15, 2018 (Minneapolis).
"As a company, we are sad about this turn of events with our franchisee and to be leaving these Minnesota communities. We are always seeking growth opportunities and look forward to the day when we can return to the area."
