Best Buy follows Target's lead with free holiday shipping offer
Best Buy is following Target in offering free shipping with no minimum purchase this holiday season.
The free shipping offer is in place starting now until Christmas Day, with the Richfield-based retailer saying it's "available on everything you order."
This matches Target's offer of free shipping with no minimum purchase required, albeit Target's offer is for 2-day shipping, while Best Buy's doesn't guarantee that.
The company did say it will fulfill "the majority of our online orders in two or fewer days," with each product having a "get it by" date on its website.
Best Buy's free shipping offer also goes all the way to Dec. 25, whereas Target's ends on Dec. 22.
Best Buy's offer doesn't cover everything despite its proclamation to the contrary. Its website notes that some "special order delivery items, some scheduled delivery items, and items displaying In Store Only or Check Stores are not available for free shipping."
Nonetheless, the Minnesota retailers' shipping deals are better than that being offered by Walmart, which still requires a $35 minimum purchase for free 2-day shipping.
Amazon meanwhile will offer "free" 2-day shipping to its Amazon Prime members.
Forbes says the moves by Target and Best Buy are "putting Walmart to shame."
