Big black bear spotted in Burnsville yard

What appears to be a pretty big black bear has been spotted in the yard of a Burnsville home Thursday morning. 

Burnsville Police Department confirmed that the bear was in southeast Burnsville, south of County Road 42 and east of Lac Lavon. 

The map below is an approximate area, not a specific location of where the bear was sighted.

In an email, the City of Burnsville says the bear alert is not meant to cause panic, saying the animal doesn't seem to be agitated or aggressive. 

"However, people in this area are asked to be vigilant of their surroundings, and not leave pets or small children unattended."

According to the DNR, multiple bears have been spotted in metro area recently.
