An 8 year old from Rogers is the proud owner of a new boat thanks to a crappie catch on Saturday.

Lincoln Erickson won the Minnesota Bound Crappie Contest on Lake Minnetonka after landing a .93 pound crappie on the popular lake.

This was closest to the secret winning weight selected by contest organizers prior to the event, which saw hundreds of anglers take to the water in the popular lake.

He's now almost certainly the only 8 year old in Minnesota to own their own Alumacraft fishing boat, the top prize in the competition.

It also comes with a motor, a trailer and a fish-finding Lowrance Graph.

The event on Lake Minnetonka was moved to Saturday, having originally been scheduled to take place on May 5.

This was delayed by two weeks thanks to the late ice out.
