Broadway legend Patti LuPone to do pair of shows in Twin Cities

Broadway icon Patti LuPone is coming to the Dakota Jazz Club for two nights in September, the Star Tribune reports.

LuPone will perform her travel-themed show "Far Away Places" on Sept. 12 and 13, which features standards by legendary composers Cole Porter and Johnny Mercer.

The show also includes an Edith Piaf song and a selection from the Bee Gees.

The singer-actress has won numerous awards on Broadway, including Tony Awards for playing Eva Peron in "Evita" and Mama Rose in the 2000 revival of "Gypsy."

LuPone also originated the role of Fantine in the original London production of "Les Miserables."

Tickets are $45, $60 and $70.
