A inconvenience is coming to the already construction-heavy stretch of I-35W south of Minneapolis starting Monday.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation has said that the ramp from southbound I-35W to 46th Street will close at 6 a.m. on June 10.
The ramp from 46th Street onto I-35W south will remain open.
The closure will allow crews to rebuild the southbound lanes of I-35W, with the closure set to be in place through early July.
It will come as an inconvenience to residents of south Minneapolis, who will be sent to the Diamond Lake Road exit and detoured north on Nicollet Avenue.
That's because the southbound ramp to 35th Street is already closed, meaning more traffic will be funneled to the Diamond Lake Road exit.
Even when the 46th Street ramp re-opens, MnDOT says there will be some periodic, short-term closures between July and fall 2020. Anyone looking to exit at 46th Street will also have to use a dedicated right-hand lane that starts around 31st Street.
In preparation for the ramp's closure, I-35W will shut completely between I-94 and Hwy. 62 from 10 p.m. Sunday till 5 a.m. Monday.
The left lane of I-35W north will also close during those times.
