City of Crystal tells residents: Stop flushing mop heads down toilet

Wait...what?

The City of Crystal has been forced to issue a plea with residents in certain areas to stop flushing mop heads down their toilets.

The city posted on its Facebook page that it's making the request "in an effort to keep the city's sanitary sewer system operating without problems."

Residents living in the area represented in pink below have their wastewater sent to a station where the mop heads "are routinely clogging the pumps."

This isn't just a one-off incident either, the city says there are "multiple" mop heads being disposed of in this way.

Residents crystal

In case you didn't know, mop heads that have reached the end of their usable lives should be disposed of in the regular garbage.
