Coen brothers' 'Inside Llewyn Davis' dominates National Society of Film Critics awards

After missing the nominations cut for the Producers Guild of America Awards last week, Joel and Ethan Coen's "Inside Llewyn Davis" bounced back over the weekend by winning four major honors from the National Society of Film Critics.

The Hollywood Reporter reports the Minnesota-born filmmakers won Best Picture and Best Director honors from the organization Saturday for the 1960s folk music tale.

"Inside Llewyn Davis" star Oscar Isaac also won the Best Actor award and Bruno Delbonnel was named Best Cinematographer.

The National Society of Film Critics consists of 56 critics nationwide.

Despite major nominations from the Film Independent Spirit Awards, the Critics Choice Movie Awards and Golden Globes in the past six weeks, the Coen brothers' awards run hit a snag last week with the PGA omission.

The brothers also missed out on a Best Original Screenplay nomination from the Writers Guild of America last week when the guild announced its annual award nominees.

Variety awards analyst Tim Gray said the WGA omission doesn't exactly spell doom for the brothers' Oscar chances in the same category.

Last year, only two of the five screenplays nominated for the WGA's Best Original Screenplay award went on to secure Oscar nominations, Gray said.

After a limited release in theaters last month, "Inside Llewyn Davis" opens nationwide on Friday.

The Coens and the film's music supervisor, T Bone Burnett, recently talked about the film on "CBS Sunday Morning."
