Luxury travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler has released the results of its 2019 Reader's Choice Awards, and it features several nods to Minnesota.
Among its 2019 awards are rankings for the best hotels and the best resorts in the Midwest, while Minneapolis-St. Paul International also features in the national "Best Airport" list.
Minnesota features most heavily in the Top 20 Hotels in the Midwest ranking, with no fewer than four lodgings making the list, all of which opened in the past six years.
The highest ranked is the JW Marriott Minneapolis at the Mall of America, which opened in 2015 and comes in at No. 2 in the Midwest.
The trendy Hewing Hotel in Minneapolis, which opened in late 2016, is the next highest ranked from Minnesota, coming in at 11th. Three places back in 14th is Lora in Stillwater, which opened in the former Joseph Wolf Brewery in summer 2018.
Rounding out Minnesota's contribution to the list is another Mall of America hotel, this one the Radisson Blu, which opened in 2013 on the south side of the megamall and is considered by Condé Nast Traveler readers the 17th best hotel in the Midwest.
Making the list of the Top 5 Resorts in the Midwest is the Grand View Lodge Golf Resort and Spa on the shores of Gull Lake in Nisswa.
The resort, which recently underwent a $30 million expansion that included the addition of a 60-room hotel, ranks as the 3rd best resort in the Midwest.
Finally, the magazine's list of the Best Airports in the U.S. includes MSP, which was ranked 4th in a list topped by Indianapolis International Airport.
"MSP continues to impress with its food, dining, and entertainment options—so much so that it may make you forget you're here to, you know, leave," the magazine says.
"No fewer than 50 stores sell brand-name clothing and shoes, and our favorite food spot – French Meadow Bakery & Cafe – serves up chipotle goat cheese quesadillas and bison short ribs along with scones and mini cheesecakes."
