Just stay home...

If you're anywhere east of Hwy. 100 in the south metro and looking to go west this weekend, good luck to you.

Two major closures will make doing so tricky, with the Minnesota Department of Transportation set to shut down Interstate 494 westbound at Hwy. 100 all the way to Hwy. 212 from 10 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday.

The eastbound lanes of I-494 will also be closed from 10 p.m. Friday through 5 p.m. Saturday. Crews will start closing ramps around 8 p.m. Friday.

The westbound detour will take drivers north on Hwy. 100 and then west on Hwy. 62.

Speaking of Hwy. 62, that's the other big weekend closure as it'll be closed in both directions from I-35W to Hwy. 5 (near the airport) starting at 10 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday.

The westbound detour for this one will take drivers to I-494, then north on I-35W where you'll then be able to get back onto Hwy. 62. The eastbound detour will take I-35W south to I-494 east and then Hwy. 5.

Another pain in the butt comes Monday as the ramp from eastbound Hwy. 62 to northbound Hwy. 169 closes through Aug. 3.

Of course, all of this is in addition to the massive construction project at I-35W near downtown Minneapolis that has the I-94 westbound exit closed through 2021.
